Sandeep Gill
Inclusion Lead
min
With growing up as a South Asian girl constantly navigating two cultures that very often clash and then working as a lawyer for a few years, Sandeep felt she was surrounded by disparity and inequality. This very quickly cemented what drives Sandeep as a person - that sense of fairness and giving the underrepresented a voice.
Sandeep has been really fortunate to live these values throughout her career at the BBC, the first decade working in investigative journalism where she has felt honoured to help tell the stories of some of the most vulnerable in society and throughout her work in Diversity Inclusion and Culture where Sandeep has learned that the best education you can get is to listen to and learn from the experiences of as many different people as possible - and crucially to be open to unlearning some of the stuff you grew up with.
Sandeep lives each day trying to be a good role model for her two daughters - teaching them to embrace opportunities and challenges and to have a growth mindset.
And if she can inspire others to do the same Sandeep will be doing her bit to make society a better place.
